Political leaders mourn Z Obed’s demise

Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): Leaders cutting across party lines have mourned the demise of former chief secretary and former minister Z Obed Solo, who passed away on January 30 at his residence in Dimapur. Leaders have described him as a humble person who was ready to the call of duty at all times.

NLA Speaker in-charge: Speaker in-charge of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, while mourning the demise of Z Obed, has described him as a man of vision and a dynamic leader who worked diligently as a committee bureaucrat and as a minister for the welfare and uplift of his constituency and for the people of Nagaland.

He lamented that his demise was a great loss to the Nagas in general and the Angami community in particular adding the void created by him will be difficult to fill.

He, on behalf of the members of the Thirteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly, has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that the Almighty God would grant solace and comfort them in their hour of grief.

SC Jamir: Former chief minister Dr. SC Jamir has described Z Obed as a person with deep commitment towards restoration of peace in the Naga areas and was ready to the call of duty at all times.

Jamir also termed him as one of the most promising officers among his peers who could shoulder any responsibility entrusted to him and rose to the position of chief secretary. Be it in bureaucracy or in political field, he had achieved distinction by virtue of his devotion and dedication, Jamir added.

Jamir further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.

NPCC: President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, stated that Z Obed was feared for his uncompromising discipline and trusted by all.

He described Z Obed as a strong and decisive man and a staunch believer of equality, socialist, secular and democratic principles, adding he stood tall for what he believed in even if it meant having to withstand the tide.

Therie lamented that in his demise Nagaland has lost an irreplaceable and wise leader.

On behalf Nagaland Congress rank and file, Therie conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to grant them strength and solace to overcome the painful parting.

NDPP: President of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Chingwang Konyak has extolled Z Obed as an efficient and straightforward bureaucrat with conscientious determination to serve the government and the people.

“Unlike many Nagas, tribalism was something totally absent in his psyche, and all and sundry who met him recalled this fact. This could be due to the fact that though he was born an Angami from the largest Naga village Kohima, he grew up in Impur/ Mopungchuket and later on, assumed citizenship of Mopungchuket village and married an Ao lady,” Konyak stated.

He lamented that in his passing away, Nagas have lost a gem of a leader, an individual and a personality whose void would be difficult to fill.

He, on behalf of NDPP, conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for solace and strength in their hour of grief.

KDCC: Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) recalled Z Obed as a humble human and a seasoned politician, who always considered the welfare of the party especially the KDCC.

It stated that his presence in the party was a morale booster for the party workers and leaders and lamented that in his demise the party has lost a straight forward leader. It added that the emptiness created by his demise would be difficult to fill.

KDCC has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and pray to God to grand them solace in their hour of grief.
