Police to issue autorickshaw identification display card
DIMAPUR — As approved by the regional transport authority (RTA), Dimapur, to ensure safe public transport systems and effectively regulate the plying of auto rickshaws, Dimapur Police has decided to issue autorickshaw identification display cards, which are to be compulsorily pasted on the autorickshaw.
In this regard, Dimapur Police has directed all autorickshaw owners and drivers operating within Dimapur, Chümoükedima and Niuland districts to report at the office of the DCP (Traffic), Dimapur, along with the necessary and updated vehicle documents by November 30. They are asked to produce permits, driving license, aadhar card, permanent and temporary address proof of the owner and driver, 3 latest passport photos of drivers and 1 passport photo of the owner for processing and issuance of auto rickshaw identification display cards.
A press release issued by the deputy commissioner of police (crime) and PRO stated that in case of detection of any fabricated or forged permanent/ temporary residence certificates, the concerned village/ colony authorities would be held solely responsible.
It cautioned that any autorickshaw found plying without a display card would be impounded until its owner/ driver submits the required valid documents for the issue of an autorickshaw identification display card. It added that the display cards would be valid for a period of 2 years from the date of issue after which a fresh display card would be re-issued.
It stated that all records obtained from the above-mentioned documents would be digitally stored and regularly updated every two years or as and when ownership of autorickshaw changes/ auto drivers is replaced. The release stated that it should be the responsibility of the autorickshaw owner to provide the necessary details in case of any such change.
It further appealed to all autorickshaw owners/drivers and Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU) to fully cooperate with the concerned authorities for the smooth implementation of the new system in the larger interest of public convenience and safety.
