Diphu, March 5 (EMN):
State surveillance team (SST) recovered cash amounting INR 7 lakh from one person identified as Lakhan Shah of Hojai town at Dillai check gate in Karbi Anglong on Friday. It was the second time that cash was recovered since the enforcement of model code of conduct for the ensuing Assam assembly election.

Sources informed that Lakhan Shah was travelling in a bus from Dimapur to Hojai when the cash was recovered during a random checking conducted by the state surveillance team at Dillai check gate.

Earlier in a notification, the district election officer, Ng. CD Singha had requested all not to carry cash more than INR 50,000. It stated that anybody carrying huge cash during election in any constituency for any emergency purpose should produce proper documents to explain the source and end use of such cash.

Earlier on March 3, an amount of INR 2,50,000 was seized from 45-year old Md Mainul Islam of Koloni Jalah while he was travelling in a bus from Dimapur to Nagaon during a  checking by surveillance team at Dillai.
