Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): Dimapur police have arrested seven persons in the last two weeks from various locations for indulging in criminal activities.
On November 4, personnel of Anti Extortion Team (AET) arrested one person namely Tinku Paul (28), son of Hari Das of Borpathar village and resident of Railway Colony, Dimapur, for collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN (IM). He was arrested from Netaji Colony, Dimapur.
Police recovered 16 nos. of extortion slips of NSCN (IM) and cash INR 1000 from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered with the East Police Station.
On November 9, police arrested one person namely Md Abash Khan (31), son of Tayud Ali of Barayangbi Thoubal Leikai village in Bishnupur district, Manipur, for illegal transportation of 82 cartoons of foreign cigarettes.
Case in this connection has been registered at Diphupar Police Station under relevant section of the Cigarettes & Other Tobacco Products Act/COTPA for further investigation.
On November 12, police apprehended one person namely Gladstone Newmai (24), son of Mahenwang Newmai of Kainadung village in Tamenglong district, Manipur, and seized 120 nos. of gelatin stick, 100 nos. of detonator, two rolls of fuse wire measuring 100 metres from Dimapur railway station.
Case in this connection has been registered at Government Railway Police Station.
On November 13, police arrested two persons on charges of drug peddling namely Yoami Kasar (33), son of Mingkhai Kasar of Halong village in Ukhrul, Manipur, and resident of Rongmei colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur, and Mrs Rebecca (35) of Makhan village under Senapati district, Manipur.
Police recovered 13 grams of suspected contraband brown sugar and three bottles of cough syrups (Elturex). Case in this connection has been registered at Diphupar Police Station.
On November 15, police arrested one person namely Kasim Ali (24), son of Aktar Ali of Mirate village and resident of Ward-7, Medziphema, for stealing stone chips meant for the highway construction (ECI Company). Police also recovered one autorickshaw from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered at Medziphema Police Station.
Meanwhile, on November 16, police apprehended one person namely ‘ss’ Rajapeyu of NSCN IM Shekato Swu (28) of Phishu village under VK town in Zunheboto and resident of Toluvi village, Dimapur, while trying to steal a Scooty. Police seized one screwdriver, one knife and one plier from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered at East Police Station.
