Police fish out three from contraband catch

Three persons, including a senior person, have been arrested by enforcement personnel of Kohima district in a catch that yielded 148 kilograms of contraband ganja.
Two Maruti Gypsy (Nl-03/1562, engine-F10AIN249663, chassis-tampered, and the other vehicle, MN-01A/7661, engine-F10AIN236478, chassis-tampered) were intercepted by personnel Police personnel manning Phesama check-gate in Kohima on February 19 at about 2:30 PM. The three accused have been identified as 64 years old Solomon Khaleng, 27 years old Asing Khaleng, and 26 years old Somishang Shangjang, all from Paovi village under Ukhrul in Manipur. The accused persons have been taken into police custody on charges of illegal possession and transportation of contraband ganja.
In another case, personnel of the Excise & Narcotics department of Dimapur manning the Newfield check-gate have arrested one Sanjay Paul after he was found to be in possession of 645 capsules/tablets of illegal drugs Spasmo proxyvon and Nitrosun. A note from the department on Thursday stated that the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
