Police arrest several persons in Dimapur

Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): Dimapur police have arrested six persons from different locations of the town on charges of various criminal offences in the past one week.

A police report issued by the additional deputy commissioner of police and PRO Dimapur police informed that one person identified as John Aye (31), a resident of Model Colony in Purana Bazaar, was arrested on September 17 on charges of extorting money from truck drivers in the name of NSCN.

It stated that a demand slip of NSCN was recovered from his possession adding a case has been registered in East PS Dimapur.

Pigs imported from Assam

On the same day, Dimapur police, during a routine frisking at New Field Check Gate, intercepted a Maruti van bearing Registration No.AS O4-0826, which was transporting 16 live pigs from Assam.

In this connection, one person identified as Kawidingoubo of New Jalukie village in Peren district was arrested and a case has been registered in West PS Dimapur, the report stated.

Physical assault case

Meanwhile, on September 12, Dimapur police arrested four persons namely Sanpyinglo Ezung, Nzanmongo Humtsoe, and Mhathung Ezung of Longsa village in Wokha district, and Chumben Ezung of Mungya village in Wokha district on charges of physical assault and public humiliation of a female victim at Overbridge Colony, Dimapur.

The report stated that the criminal act was also video recorded by the arrested persons and circulated on social media. A case has been registered at Women PS under relevant sections of IPC and Information Technology Act, the report added.
