DIMAPUR — The Pochury Students’ Union has extended its support for the stance of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) regarding the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections scheduled for June 26.

The union stated in a press release that it stands in complete solidarity with the NSF on various issues raised under its umbrella, aiming to unite Nagas to safeguard the rights of the indigenous Naga community, specifically, and its identity in general.

While lauding “the timely intervention of the NSF at this juncture to protect and preserve the fate of the Nagas through these elections,” the union affirmed the critical view held by the NSF for the upcoming ULB elections.

The Pochury Students’ Union advocated the principle of “Nagas by blood, not by adoption,” and supported the call for the exclusion of women married to non-locals and their offspring from contesting elections.

The union also urged its federating units to be ambassadors of change in response to the call of the Naga Students’ Federation.

Furthermore, the union expressed deep gratitude for the initiative of the NSF in fighting for the common cause of the Nagas and pledged full support and cooperation even in the days to come.
