PMKSY culmination prog held at Zbto, Chetheba

Dimapur, July 17 (EMN): The culmination program of PMKSY-WDC Batch-II organised by Department of Land Resources for Zunheboto district was held at Town Hall, Zunheboto on July 17.

Secretary of Land Resources, Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS who graced the occasion as chief guest, while exalting the God’s blessing upon Nagas by fertile lands and topography, he lamented that Nagas are yet to make use of its lands and resources efficiently.

Encouraging the beneficiaries of 16 villages who were selected for the scheme to be an agent of change by adopting dignity of labour for better economic progress, he exhorted the beneficiaries to carry the message forward to their villages and neighbouring villages about the success and benefit of the scheme.

Kikheto informed that Nagaland has ample opportunities to produce best coffee in the world for which the department has signed MOU with Coffee Board of India to start plantation in selected areas in the state. He also said 68000 rubber plantations are under cultivation in Nagaland initiated by Land Resources department which will benefit the cultivators and the state in terms of hundreds of crore if cultivated efficiently in the next few years.

Director of Land Resources, Hoto Yeptho in his speech said Zunheboto district has potential for cultivation of cardamom and kiwi plantation, while encouraging the beneficiaries not to run only after subsidies and easy money but develop work culture. He also said, Batch-III, IV, V and VI are awaited under the said scheme and encouraged the farmers to cultivate with commitment and make use of the fund allotted.

Short speeches were also delivered by ADC, Zunheboto, Vekhoyi Chakhesang and president if Sumi Hoho, Hekushe Shikhu. DPO, V. Vikugha Sema highlighted the through power point presentation while Hotovi Assumi and Toshili Achumi shared their experiences on the implementation of PMKSY scheme.

Later, the chief guest inaugurated the exhibition and handed over the Watershed Development Fund to all 16 villages.

The same programme was held at Town Hall Chetheba on July 11 with the Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Kovi Meyase, as the chief guest.

Short speeches were delivered by N Kehie and Vanchamo, Deputy Directors of Land Resources Department. Thejakhrieno Nisa, EAC Chetheba, also spoke on the occasion. Levi, DPO Phek, made a power point presentation highlighting the various activities taken up during the project period.

The Deputy Commissioner gave away the WDF fund to the watershed committee in the presence of the village council members. Khanmila Theyo, member WDT, chaired the programme.

Deputy Commissioner and other officials also visited the exhibition stalls where various products and activities of PMSKY (IWMP) batch-2 were showcased.
