PM visit not confirmed: Oram

Amidst reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Nagaland on December 1, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram today said the visit is not confirmed yet.
Interacting with members of the local press on the sidelines of the BJP primary membership drive workshop at Ura Conference Hall, Kohima, Oram said Modi is scheduled to visit the north eastern region but whether he will be visiting Nagaland or not is yet to be confirmed.
When asked if the Tribal Affairs Ministry is mulling any special development package for Nagaland, Oram said that remains to be decided.
“As a Union Minister, I am ready to co-operate and extend all possible help from the Government of India,” Oram stated.
He said while it is the State government’s primary duty to set development agenda and priority of the State, the Centre will “definitely consider” if the government of Nagaland has any requirements.
Meanwhile, according to an official report today a meeting to discuss the arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit to Nagaland from December 1 to 2 was held at the office chamber of Principal Secretary, Home, Pankaj Kumar on November 11.
The meeting chaired by Principal Secretary, Home, Pankaj Kumar, decided that a transport, reception, accommodation and communication team (TRAC) to be manned by Commissioner & Secretary, Youth Resources and Sports, Menukul John and Special Secretary, Home, Singsit will be set up in regard to the PM’s visit. They will co-opt the other members of the team.
The Transport department will requisition 50 government vehicles for the visit while the department of IPR has been asked to write to Doordarshan Guwahati for live telecast of the PM’s visit.
The next meeting in this regard will be held at 11 am on November 17.
