PM to pay 2-day visit to Nagaland

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a two-day visit to Nagaland from November 30. Modi will grace the Hornbill Festival on December 1 as the chief guest.
In connection with the Prime Minister’s visit, a coordination meeting of the top State government officials and the Central government departments in the State was convened at the office chamber of Principal Secretary & Home Commissioner Nagaland on Friday.
Chairing the meeting, Home Commissioner Pankaj Kumar has sought cooperation of all departments and organizations concerned to provide best accommodation and a comfortable stay of the Prime Minister and his entourage.
Stating that the Home department will be engaged mainly with the Prime Minister’s entourage and the State’s guests, the Home Commissioner urged all departments concerned to use their own resources in taking care of what they are assigned with during the time of the festival.
The meeting asked the BSNL to get ready with hotlines in Kohima and connect important locations such as Kisama, Raj Bhavan, Helipad, Commissioner’s Guest House etc. with STD and WIFI facilities. It said the Prime Minister should be provided with the ISD facility. The BSNL and Information Technology department were also asked to tie up to provide the required facilities in various places.
The Assam Rifles representatives, who also attended the meeting, informed that the Kohima helipad would be made ready with tight security for safe landing of the helicopters. They also said security will be tightened in and around Kohima.
The Assam Rifles further suggested that other helipads in and around Kohima should also be ready for landing of more choppers.
The Border Roads Organisation informed the meeting that the ongoing repair and construction of roads will be completed by November 29.
The meeting urged the press and other media agencies, including AIR and Doordarshan, to work in coordination with IPR department for dissemination of news and live telecast of the function. Doordarshan has submitted its prepared plan for coverage of the function in the meeting.
Press and media agencies were also directed to submit their staff lists to IPR to get ID cards for coverage of the Prime Minister’s visit.
The meeting was informed that the Prime Minister of Myanmmar will arrive on December 3 to take part in the Hornbill Festival.
