DIMAPUR — A two-day Art in Education and Kala Utsav Meet 2025 got underway at PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Kohima on Wednesday on the theme “Viksit Bharat–A vision for Bharat in the Year 2047.”
An update from the school stated that the event saw enthusiastic participation from 186 students representing 18 schools across Nagaland, Manipur and Meghalaya, all part of the Shillong Cluster under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
Held at the school’s multi-purpose hall, the inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Kohima. The Utsav was formally declared opened by the school’s principal, Mahesh Prasad Shivhare.

Delivering the keynote address, Noudi emphasised the critical role of arts in education, calling it a catalyst for innovation, cultural identity and holistic development.
He praised Kala Utsav as a dynamic platform showcasing India's artistic heritage while empowering students to actively shape a progressive and inclusive future for the nation by 2047.
Referring national initiatives like “Visit Bharat” and “Dharti Abhav,” he highlighted the importance of development in nation-building and urged students to pursue excellence in all spheres.
Acknowledging Nagaland’s rich musical culture, Noudi commended the role of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) in nurturing talent and offering creative platforms to the youth.
In his address, the school’s principal, Shivhare, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to cultivating creativity and providing students with a space for expressive, inclusive and free learning.
The event was anchored by Takhe Nancy of Class XII and Aaradhya Shivhare of Class IX. An opening song was presented by the Avanti Girls of Class XII.
S Atheni, PGT (Economics), delivered the welcome address, while Vijay Kumar, PGT (Hindi), delivered the vote of thanks.
Report stated that the inaugural programme featured a vibrant showcase of visual arts, Indian classical and contemporary dance, music and handicrafts with student performances reflecting the cultural richness and creative diversity of the northeast.
It further stated that the Kala Utsav celebrations would continue on August 7 with more artistic showcases, exhibitions and cultural exchanges, reinforcing the shared vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
