Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): Mokokchung will observe Swachhata Hi Seva 2019, a countrywide awareness with special focus on plastic waste awareness and management, on October 2. ADC & Administrator MMC, Mokokchung, W Manpai Phom has issued an action plan on carrying out the massive plastic waste shramdaan.
An update from DIPR has informed that Phom has directed all government employees serving under various departments in Mokokchung district to participate in the mass social work. In Mokokchung town, it will be held at Imlong Place at 8.50 am.
The ADC has also informed all schools, colleges, and institutions — both private and government — to participate in the campaign by collecting plastic waste, segregated and deposit it in the nearest notified plastic collection point.
In a separate notice, Phom has informed all the departments in Mokokchung to clean the premises of their offices on October 1, adding that plastic waste should be segregated into recyclable and non-recyclable ones before depositing at the nearest plastic collection point. The government servants have also been asked to take swachhata pledge.
The ADC has asked all the departments to come up with action plan to make the office premises single-use plastic-free zone by October 2. All the head of offices in the district have also been asked to submit photographs (soft copy) of the cleanliness drive and video of the observation of swachhata pledge to the office of ADC Mokokchung by 4.00 pm on October 1.
