Planning board talks shop about developing Wokha

Wokha, April 11 (EMN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Wokha district was conducted on April 11 in the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in Wokha.
The meeting was presided over by the chairman of the DPDB Mmhonlumo Kikon, also the advisor for Information Technology, Science and Technology, New and Renewable Energy.
Deputy chief minister in charge of Home and National Highway Y Patton; advisor for Horticulture Mhathung Yanthan, and MLA Dr. Chumben Murry, also attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the chairman requested the board to attend the meetings regularly so that issues pertaining to the district can be addressed timely. He requested also the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police to visit places in case of any border or land issues and to take stock of situation. They are to submit reports to the higher authorities for immediate redress.
On developmental matters, Kikon said that repair and construction work of the town’s road would be undertaken very shortly. He has urged the department in concern and the officers to ensure that quality work is maintained and that they utilize funds judiciously.
The deputy chief minister Patton who also spoke during the meeting thanked the administration and the paramilitary forces; the NGOs and various other organization for the cooperation they gave toward successfully conducting the elections.
Supplementing the matter raised by the chairman, Patton stated that in case of any law and order problems on-spot verifications are to be made and timely reports ought to be given to the authorities. He urged the officers posted in the district to be regular and work for the progress and prosperity of the district.
Advisor for Horticulture Yanthan said during the meeting that the wish and aspirations of the people were with the officers. He appealed to all the officers to understand their responsibilities and be committed to fulfilling the needs of the public.
Also, legislator Dr. Chumben Murry highlighted important issues pertaining to the development and renovation works in the district. He has urged his fellow legislators to share responsibilities in bringing change and prosperity to the region.
Among matters that the board discussed the administration has given approval to setting up a public library.
With regard to financial assistance from the common pool fund for 2018-19 to the celebration of Tokhu Emong, the chairman has requested the organizers to prepare the activities of the event for approval.
Officers from the department of Education placed before the board the activities and programmes of the department.
Lotha Hoho honours legislators
The Lotha Hoho has given recognition to the four MLAs of the district Kikon, Patton, Yanthan, and Murry in the Town Hall in Wokha. The organisation has appealed to the legislators and the community to work united.
