Pitroda’s analogies nothing to do with Congress, says Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has joined the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in denouncing recent analogies used by Sam Pitroda to illustrate India’s diversity.
While deeming the analogies “unacceptable and unfortunate”, the NPCC, in a press release on Sunday, said that Pitroda’s remarks were made in a personal capacity and do not reflect the Congress party’s stance.
It also said that the BJP’s attempts to politicise the issue, despite the clarification given by the AICC, is regrettable and that it is an indicator of their utter desperation in the face of an impending electoral rout.
It went on to state that the BJP’s hypocrisy and the irony of the situation is not lost on the nation, considering the several instances in the recent past where BJP leaders have been involved in comparatively worse cases without any proportionate official censure from the party.
“Racially loaded statements from Union Minister Giriraj Singh in 2015, former BJP MP Tarun Vijay in 2017 and Santosh Ranjan Rai, the former national vice president of BJP’s youth wing in 2021, are few of the cases in point,” it pointed out.
Further, the NPCC reaffirmed the Congress party’s “utmost respect for the rich diversity of India and our unwavering commitment in upholding the interests of all sections of society, irrespective of colour or creed.”
