DIMAPUR — In a significant achievement towards pursuit for academic excellence, Pilgrim Higher Secondary School (PHSS) in Kuda Village (Nagarjan) became the first school in Nagaland to introduce the School Integrated Programme (SIP).
The SIP called “NEBULA” was launched on Friday at the school’s auditorium, in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology and Innovation (NITI), Dimapur.
It may be mentioned that SIP integrates regular school education for classes XI and XII with professional coaching for national-level competitive examinations such as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Instead of students attending school in the morning and separate coaching classes in the evening, SIP combines both systems into a single academic framework within the school environment.

The integrated approach ensures that school syllabus and competitive exam syllabus are covered simultaneously and enable students to avoid duplication of study time and also reduces academic stress.
The programme has been designed to enable students receive high-quality guidance within the state instead of travelling long distances or shifting to expensive coaching cities.
Besides, the course would enable students to understand complex concepts clearly; develop analytical and logical thinking and build confidence to compete nationally.
The programme was launched by Kakishe K Zhimomi, deputy director of Tourism department as the chief guest on behalf of Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Technical Education, who could not attend the programme due to health issue.
In his message, which was read by the chief guest, Along asserted that introduction of such comprehensive programme especially designed to support students in their NEET and JEE preparation is a commendable step towards academic excellence in the region.
He expressed confidence that the initiative would prove to be a valuable asset for the students, providing them with necessary guidance to achieve their aspiration and future goal.
He further wished success to the management of NITI and the entire school administration.
In his welcome address, the school’s administrator and proprietor, Bithungo Kikon, informed that SIP has been introduced for classes 11 and 12 of Science stream after obtaining due permission from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE).
He underlined three reasons for introducing SIP in the school such as access to good faculty, good collaboration and cost effective approach. According to him, the course would provide access to good faculty sourced from the topmost engineering institutions (IIT) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).
He added that the school would work collaboratively with partnering academic partners at a nominal rate.
In his keynote address, NITI CEO Rishav Sethi stressed the need to train students from Nagaland at tier one institutions who, in turn, could bring about great change in the Naga society.
He stated that children under SIP would be taught by highly qualified faculty from across the country in their preparation for national-level examinations.
He further sought cooperation from all the parents to enable them deliver the expected results.
Guest of honour and chairman of Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland, Bishnu Bhattacharjee, described SIP as a forward thinking initiative that blends academic learning with real life skills, creativity and character building.
He appreciated the collaboration between NITI and PHSS to further strengthen the vision by offering integrated coaching for competitive examinations like NEET, JEE and CUET.
On the occasion, Kakishe K Zhimomi gave away the NCC ‘A’ certificates. A total of 23 cadets successfully achieved the NCC ‘A’ certification for the training year 2025–2026, under the guidance of M Herojit Singh, Commanding Officer, No. 1 NL Air Squadron NCC, Dimapur.
