Mokokchung, Sep. 8 (EMN): The Covid-19 pandemic has affected every workplace across the globe. Professionals working abroad are also affected as they cannot join their work stations for various challenges and could eventually end up losing their jobs.
In Mokokchung town too, a young woman Dr. Olemjungla PT who has been working in Qatar for the past two years, could not return to her company since last year because of the pandemic.
But she has reversed her challenges by launching her own physio centre called ‘Physio Ki- your home to recovery’ at Arkong Ward on the occasion of World Physical Therapy Day on September 8.
After coming home for vacation, the pandemic hit hard on her career and she could not take the flight to Qatar to resume her work.
Dr. Olemjungla recounted that the need of physiotherapy faced by the people prompted her to start a physio centre instead of going back to Qatar. Her objective of starting a physio centre was “to give affordable and quality health care services to our people.”
She observed that many people relate physiotherapy as massage but opined that physiotherapy and massage were two different things. She clarified that physio was mostly related to exercises and movement.
Dr. Olemjungla informed that the centre would start operating from September 9 and roll out free consultation for senior citizens and offer discount packages for long-term treatment. The centre would offer services on rehabilitation, age-related issues etc.
Dr. Olemjungla, after completing her Bachelor in Physiotherapy from West Bengal, worked at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, and Healthcare at Home, Delhi, before working in Qatar.
