Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom issued a statement on Monday night announcing that “the first positive case of Covid-19 from Nagaland was confirmed at 10.58 pm on April 12, 2020 by the medical team from Gauhati Medical College”.

He assured that the government is working 24x7 for the safety of the people, and that all preventive measures are being taken to control and prevent the further spread of the virus.

“We, once again appeal to all not to panic with the latest development as the state government together with the department of Health and Family Welfare and all the line departments are closely monitoring the situation. The department is keeping vigil with the patient’s family. His father along with the driver of ambulance who travelled with the patient is in quarantine facility centre,” he said.

Members of the patient’s joint family have already been shifted to a government quarantine centre, he added.
