Phom community celebrates Monyiü

MONYIÜ, one of the biggest festivals of the Phom Naga tribe, was celebrated by Dimapur Phom Union (DPU) at the residence of its Union treasurer, B Heang Phom at Walford Colony.
Er. TL Semdok, Vice President NCP who was the main speaker of the festival, encouraged the gathering to strive towards ‘Unity and love and to understand our existence through co-operation and good work.’ He also stated that one must work with dedication, sincerity and should change the mindset towards building the society for a better and fruitful future.
T Imdong, Retired Deputy Director (SE), who also spoke on the occasion, has highlighted on the significance of Phom Monyiü festival. According to him ‘Monyiü’ is a festival of love, joy, hard work and spreading the message of peace and relationship building not only to relatives and love ones but also with neighbours. The vote of thanks was pronounced by H Philip, Union Secretary.
The festival was marked with the declaration of lucky draw result and various cultural performances performed by the cultural troops of Tamlu Bühü Union and Phomla Hoichem followed by various traditional rare events.
