Dimapur, April 12 (EMN): The Phokhungri Area Cultural Society (PACS) celebrated its 7th cultural festival from April 10 to the 12th at Shilloi Lake in Phek district. Updates from the DIPR informed on Thursday that the event was based on the theme ‘our culture, our identity.’
According to the press release, member of the Rajya Sabha KG Kenye was the chief guest of the event. In his inaugural speech on April 11, he said that during his tenure as the chairman of the planning board in 1991, only 11 households were there to attend the meeting. He acknowledged G Kaito Aye for taking the initiative to set up a tourist spot at Shilloi Lake when the latter was the minister for Tourism.
Kenye urged the people to follow the legacy of their ancestors such as honesty, friendliness, hard work, kindness, and trustworthy which he said were diminishing in the current society. He has assured to construct a VIP guest house at Shilloi Lake and to renovate the helipad.
After the cultural program, Kenye along with government officials visited International Trade Centre and helipad at Avakhung. He went on sightseeing to Tizii-Zungki inland waterway project, the updates added.
