Phokhungri area hit hard by poor phone reception and internet connection

Dimapur, Aug. 8 (EMN): The Phokhungri Area Public Organisation (Papo) has appealed to Bharti Airtel to provide a steady service, saying that 4G service is poor and phone reception inconsistent in Phokhungri area, especially in Phokhungri village under Meluri sub-division, Phek district.

The organisation said through a statement issued on Friday that good phone network is required during this unprecedented crisis as student community needs internet for online classes and examinations.

It said the Airtel tower at Phokhungri village functions on “DG generator” as power transformer is yet to be installed, due to which ‘fuel runs out every now and then, thus affecting network consistency of other five nearby towers that are linked with the Phokhungri tower’.

“It may also be noted that Phokhungri is located at Indo-Myanmar border which is the remotest part of Nagaland and this network is the only means of communication for the local populace of the area. Further, it is also pertinent to inform that the Airtel 4G network service in some villages under this area is not functional and in grim condition,” the press release read.

The organisation has, therefore, appealed to the telecom service provider to urgently resolve the issue in Phokhungri area.
