Kohima, Sep. 18 (EMN): Phoenix Rising overpowered Club Football Fanatics 3-2 in their encounter at the ongoing Morning Champions Cup 2017 on Monday morning at Seikhazou ground, Kohima.
Phoenix team remains undefeated in the tournament thanks to a brace from Asa and Seyie in the first half to take the three points. The team has now 9 points from three matches in Group B. In a three minute goal thriller, Phoenix Rising took the lead through Asa in the 6th minute setup by Imo, but in the midst of celebration, Club Football Fanatics level the scoreline through Kevi one minute later. The damage wasn’t done to Phoenix as Asa rose up to the occasion to score again in the 8th minute to give the lead.
Seyie completed the treble for Phoenix in the 39th minute to make it 3-1 at the end of the first half.
Fanatics player Kevi did scored a late goal in the 80th minute but wasn’t enough for the team as Phoenix hold on for a win at the end of the final whistle.
Kevi’s brace for Fanatics not enough for the team as they suffered their first defeat in three games at the hands of Phoenix Rising.
