Total of 451 students from various schools in Wokha district participated in the philatelic exhibition organized by the Postal department of Nagaland division
WOKHA — A two-day district-level philatelic exhibition ‘Wokha Pex-2023,’ organized by the Postal department of Nagaland division concluded on Saturday at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS), Wokha.
The rector of DBHSS, Fr. CT Varghese, who attended the prize distribution programme as the guest of honour, expressed gratitude to the Postal department for organising the event. Stating that stamps depict the era and its significance associated with history, he called upon the students to value how communication and information were shared in the earlier period.
A total of 451 students from various schools in Wokha district participated in the philatelic exhibition including competitions on letter writing and stamp designs during the two days event.
In the philately exhibition competition, Ovungbeni M Ngullie from DBHSS won the gold medal, while Ejonshani N Odyuo from DBHSS and Ayimong E Yanthan from Fernbrook School won gold medals in stamp design competition in Group ‘A’ (class 7 and below) and Group ‘B’ (class 8 to 10) categories respectively.
Nongothung Mozhui from Bethesda School and Yantsurhoni Lotha from Perennial School were declared winners in letter writing from Group ‘A’ (class 7 and below) and Group ‘B’ (class 8 to 10) categories respectively.
Chonbeni Z Ezung from Fernbrook School and Mhonlumi M Patton from Fernbrook School won the gold medal in inland letter card writing competition from Group ‘A’ (class 8 and below) and Group ‘B’ (class 9 and above) categories respectively.
Cash prizes and certificates were also awarded to silver and brown medal winners as well as consolation prizes in all categories.
L Tiken Singh, superintendent of posts Nagaland division, and Suman Deb, assistant engineer of civil wing from Silchar, were the judges of the event.
