Phek villages avail free medical treatment

District Health Society, Phek conducted health mela cum sterilization camp at Weziho village on November 21. A total of 8 neighbouring villages of Waziho attended the Mela and availed free medical treatment. In the health mela, the different services provided were free Ante-Natal Check up(ANC), immunization, free female and male sterilization, free Copper-T insertion, free distribution of condoms & oral pills, free medicines and medical treatment, free consultation for children and pregnant women, Free blood testing on HIV /AIDS, Malaria & TB & Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on different health issues with pregnant women and eligible couples.Nutritional packages in the form of Horlicks were presented to 18 pregnant women and to 7 fully immunized children By Dr Kevichusa, CMO Phek to motivate the people.
Altogether, 314 patients were treated out of which two female sterilization (tubectomy) were done,10 copper-T (IUCD) were inserted, 17 women availed Ante Natal Check up, 34 children were treated and immunized, 35 dental procedures were conducted and 77 women were treated by Gynaecologist.
The Society, Phek also conducted a health camp and given free medicines in five villages from November 21 – 23 viz- Phoghungri village, Laluri village, Sutsu village, Avankhu village and Latsam village and 348 patients were given free medical treatment and medicines. Children were also immunized during the health camp.
In both the camps, information Education Communication (IEC) materials on different health messages was also distributed in local dialects and English.
Dr Kika, Dy Mission Director (National Health Mission) from Directorate, Health & Family Welfare, Kohima along with Dr John Kemp, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) DH& FW & Dr Kevi Sekhose, state Epidemiologist (IDSP) DH & FW Kohima monitored the health camp.
Dr Kevichusa, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Phek along with Dr Ritu Dy CMO, Dr Neisakho District Programme Officer (NVBDCP), Dr Thienuhezo, DPO (RCH & UIP), 11 specialist doctors comprised of gynecologist, pediatricians and dentists, five nurses, counsellor and Lab technician (MICTC), Lab Technician (RNTCP), Lap Tech. (NVBDCP)Dist. Programme manager, District Media Officer, and Health workers conducted the health camp.
