Addressing the eight participating teams and public during the opening ceremony, Neinu stated that the 56 years of the sports meet is matured now and it is high time to introspect or retrospect how far it has achieved and what requires to be done more to produce good sportspersons, informed a statement from the organisers. The MLA also questioned the level of dedication of sportspersons in their quest for excellence. "Why can't we produce good sportspersons who can bring laurels to our state in particular and country in general? What areas are we lacking- avenues or dedication?" he questioned. Azo also stressed on the need to do research to identify the reasons behind “our slackness in sports” and find out way forward to improve and excel in sports. He stressed on the need to focus on infrastructure and also connect the talented youth towards professionalism. The meet will be held up to December 20.
