Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): A total of 776 persons in Phek district have availed various services during a legal services camp that was held on July 20 at the government high school of Chetheba town.
The camp was organised by the Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA), in collaboration with the departments of Social Welfare, Health and Family Welfare, and the district administration of Phek.

Delivering the inaugural speech was Mezivolu T Therieh, district and session judge of the district court of Phek.
Therieh, also chairperson of the Phek DLSA, stated that the camp was organised to legally empower the marginalised and excluded groups of the society by providing them effective legal representation, legal literacy and awareness and bridging the gap between the legally available benefits and the entitled beneficiaries.

According to updates, she encouraged the gathering to be honest and inquire to get the right information about their rights and benefits.

She also encouraged the gathering to cooperate and support the administration for the betterment and development of the village community.

In a short speech, the additional deputy commissioner of Chozuba, Theodore Yanthan, appreciated the organisers for conducting the camp.

The officer urged the officials and the organisers to conduct similar camps in other sub-divisions too.
Also, the president of Chokri Area Public Organisation (CAPO), Sulupoyi Swiho, thanked the organisers for conducting the camp. He urged the gathering to avail the benefits that the camp has for them.

During the programme, Meshusayi Tetseo, CDPO, Social Welfare department, highlighted on social welfare schemes namely Old Age Pension Scheme, Widow Pension Scheme, Disabled Pension Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana and National Family Benefit Scheme and apprised the gathering of the required documents to avail them.

The welcome address was delivered by Yapangmenla, extra additional commissioner of Chetheba town, while a song was presented by the Legal Literacy Club, Government High school, Chetheba.

Cheliam Khiamniungan, JMFC, District Court, Phek, cum secretary of Phek DLSA, chaired the function and also delivered the concluding remarks.

People from four neighbouring villages namely Thinyizu, Khulazu Basa, Khulazu Bawe and Chesezu attended the programme.

A total of 61 beneficiaries availed services from Social Welfare department, while 58 availed services from maternity benefit for pregnant and lactating mother scheme, and three persons from national family benefit scheme.

The Health and Family Welfare department, Pfutsero, rendered free medicines and medical check-up to 80 persons, while 210 persons were enrolled for Adhaar and 365 persons were given free legal pamphlets and counselling by Phek DLSA.
