Phek police arrests two persons for kidnapping

Kohima, May 3 (EMN): Two persons were arresting by the Phek police in connection with the kidnapping of an employee of Madhucon Projects Ltd. on April 26 this year.

An update issued on by the Phek police on Monday stated the alleged kidnappers have been identified as ‘Vevolhu of Yoruba village, an SS Lt of NSCN (K-Khango), and Mutuku Vero of Chepoketa village, a cadre of NNC/ Non-Accordist’.

The police stated that the victim were kidnapped by the duo at a shop and taken to an unknown location before demanding INR 3 lakh for the release of the employee.

Following the incident, the police immediately swung into action and raided various suspected places. The victim was released unharmed with the help of public leaders.

A case was registered against the kidnappers.

The police informed that a special team arrested Vero on April 28 at Phek town and the main accused Vevolhu at Yoruba village on May 2.

The Phek police also updated that two extortionists namely SS Sgt. Major Serayi of Nagaland People’s Government of Nagaland (NPGN) NNC/Non-Accordist and his accomplice Venepa on April 30 for reportedly demanding money from shops at Phek town.

It added that extortion receipts and an amount of INR 2410 were seized from their possessions.

A case has been registered against them at Phek police station for extortion under IPC.
