Phek District Sports Association tours federating units

Kohima, April 19 (EMN): Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) made a tour to its federating units with the objective of ‘Reaching the unreached areas.’

The PDSA team visited Phokhungri Area Sports Organisation (Paso) and Avakhung village, the last village in Phek district, bordering with Myanmar and conducted a meeting.

A press release from PDSA stated that the touring team had carried out it’s tour from April 16 to the 18th, and had meeting on April 17 which was presided by the PDSA president Nezosa Tetseo.

The president,during the meeting, stressed on the importance of sports activities, stating that it was beyond competition as it unites people and builds friendship. He added that sports was a lucrative profession in the world presently.

A speech was also delivered by former wrestling champion, Vekhriyi Chuzho on the scenario of wrestling and its scope. He urged the Phokhungri area to introduce the same in the future and also expressed willingness to extend help for the promotion of Wrestling.

Speeches were also delivered by Paso president, Ashelo and also by Village Council Chairman (VCC) of Avakhung village.

It stated that the tour was carried out to listen the grievances by interacting and encouraging the Phokhungri area sports organisation, as it couldn’t turn participate in the recently concluded 36th PDSA meet held at Thenyizumi village.

The PDSA officials during the tour had also handed over sports kits and equipment for the area to encourage them and take part in the next edition of PDSA meet.

Meanwhile, PDSA had extended its appreciation and gratitude to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Phek Vesupra Kezo, Post Commander 22Bn Assam Rifles D’ Coy for the logistic support and security.
