The RBSK team along with the students on the occasion of ‘Menstrual Hygiene Day’ at Government High School in Phek town on Wednesday.

DIMAPUR — Phek district observed ‘Menstrual Hygiene Day” on Wednesday at Government High School in Phek town on the theme “Period friendly world.”

The programme was conducted by Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team comprising Dr. Avono Medoze, Vekupolu (GNM) and Kotsho, school health programme coordinator. The day was observed with an aim to promote awareness and educate on menstrual health, stated an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek.

It stated that Dr. Avono emphasised on the importance of menstrual hygiene and the need to eradicate the stigma associated with menstruation and highlighted the crucial role of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene for overall health and well-being. She also shared the common myths and misconception surrounding menstruation.

She further encouraged the young female adolescents to adopt healthy practices and feel empowered to talk openly about their experiences.

Report stated that discussion hour was also conducted where doubts were clarified. The team also distributed sanitary pads to all the adolescent girls and prizes were also awarded to those participants who have actively participated during the programme.
