District administration and district-level centre for women - Mahila Shakti Kendra form human chain during the breast cancer awareness campaign in Phek.

Kohima, Oct. 31 (EMN): The district administration and district-level centre for women - Mahila Shakti Kendra under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) observed  breast cancer awareness month on the theme, "Give Hope, Save Lives" from October 1 to the 31st.

The campaign was carried out with the objective of sensitising the people about the importance of early treatment and diagnosis of breast cancer to control the progression of the ailment, an update informed.

The awareness campaign was observed by wearing a pink badge by all staff and officers from the district administration in support and to show every woman that her life is important.

According to the World Health Organisation, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in developed and developing countries. Lack of knowledge and information about the early signs and symptoms makes the condition life-threatening, it stated.
