Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): A 100-day information, education and communication (IEC) campaign under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to provide potable water connection to all schools and Anganwadi centres was held for Wokha block on November 24 and for Chukitong and Wozhuro blocks on November 25 at Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) conference hall in Wokha town.
A DIPR report stated that similar programmes were conducted for Bhandari, Changpang and Ralan block.
Delivering the keynote address at LEH conference hall, Imnazulu Ao, EE PHED Wokha, highlighted about the aims and objectives of Jal Jeevan Mission and the ongoing campaign and assured the participants to do everything possible to make the mission a success. He also urged the participants to work in unison to maintain the ODF status and create a conducive environment for a healthy life.
Vimezo, S&H consultant, PHED Wokha, spoke on healthy sanitary practices. He illustrated on the importance of solid-liquid waste management as well as on the importance of maintaining sanitary toilet, keeping oneself and surroundings clean and to practice hand washing with soap which has become all the more important during this pandemic.
Also spoke on the role of Anganwadi workers, teachers and Asha workers, he urged them to bring about behavioural change in children and to inculcate good sanitary practices.
Aremo, chemist, PHED Wokha, elaborated on the importance of safe drinking water, different water contaminants and their ill effects, water- sanitation related diseases and the importance of water quality monitoring and surveillance.
The report further stated that school teachers, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, Watsan members, village council members from various villages attended the programme.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Zuchamo Kikon, JE PHED Wokha.
