The Public Health Engineering Department conducted Swachhata awareness drives in Chümoukedima and Longleng, promoting waste management and cleanliness practices in villages.

DIMAPUR — As part of the nationwide campaign Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata on the theme Swatantrata Ka Utsav, Swachhata Ke Sang, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Rural Division Dimapur organised a “Swachhata dialogue and awareness drive” at Dhansiripar village in Chümoukedima on Wednesday.
According to a press release, the event was held with the aim of propagating the message of swachhta by spreading awareness through demonstrations of waste management techniques such as waste segregation, composting, and toilet maintenance.
Special guest Vejoyo Swuro, SDO (C), Dhansiripar, Chümoukedima, in his speech, underscored the link between hygiene, public health, and community well-being.
He reminded the gathering that “charity begins at home, and so does cleanliness.” He called on every household to start cleanliness from their kitchens and immediate surroundings, stressing that sustainable cleanliness is not a one-time effort but a continuous practice.

A speech was also delivered by PHED Rural Executive Engineer Nirie-e Nisa, wherein she shared her vision of making Dhansiripar village a clean model village and encouraged the villagers to make efforts towards a cleaner Dhansiripar village.
A practical demonstration of waste management techniques was conducted by PHED Rural Dimapur Junior Engineer Hotolu Sumi. This session covered hands-on waste segregation, simple composting methods, and toilet maintenance, providing villagers with practical knowledge to implement in their homes.
A campaign selfie booth was also set up to promote and propagate the message of Swachhata.
Also, the PHED Longleng Division organised a “Swachhata dialogue and awareness drive” and an IHHL cleanliness activity by villagers and individuals at Hongnyu village under Sakshi block.
The villagers were also provided with toilet cleaning essentials. The campaign was led by the district coordinator of the department.
