PHED advises public to get water sources tested in laboratories
Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Office of the Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has informed the public that water testing laboratories have been established in all the districts and state laboratory in Dimapur, which can be carried out by physical and chemical analysis and bacteriological as well. Therefore, the public are encouraged to get their water sources tested in the laboratories with a nominal fee.
‘It is very important to know the water quality status because periodic testing and water quality monitoring will maintain reliable and safe water sources and eliminate the potential health risk related to water contamination,’ the department said.
Water quality largely determines the ‘goodness and fitness’ of water for intended purposes, especially for drinking purposes. ‘When water is tested it offers the knowledge required to address the problem that is currently involved with the water quality. It will also ensure that water quality is protected from every potential causer of contamination,’ it stated.
