DIMAPUR— The Research Committee of Pfutsero Government College in Phek district, in collaboration Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a one-day workshop on ‘Critical thinking’ on June 7.

The resource person of the workshop was Dr. Venusa Tinyi, assistant professor of Philosophy at University of Hyderabad. Dr. Tinyis’ teaching and research interests includes logic (formal and informal), critical thinking, normative studies and Naga culture/ identity studies, an update from the college stated.

It mentioned that he was a recipient of the university gold medal for his master’s programme in Philosophy. He has presented and published papers in national/ international seminars and journals. His latest book publication was titled “The foundational concepts of norms and normative systems: A deontic logical approach (Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, 2023).

He also has to his credit Master of Christian Studies from the Biblical Graduate School of Theology, Singapore.

It stated that the workshop had two technical sessions. The topic of the first session was ‘Critical thinking I,’ where the resource person discussed on the importance of language, types of questions and disagreement on critical analysis.

The second session on ‘Critical thinking II: Logical fallacies in reasoning,’ the resource person discussed on formal and informal reasoning and the three types of logical fallacies.

The college’s principal, Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, delivered the keynote address and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sesoteu Kapfo, convenor of Research Committee, PGC.
