PGC conducts webinar on ‘Impact of Covid-19’

Dimapur, Nov. 27 (EMN): Research and Seminar Committee of the Phek Government College (PGC) conducted a two-day national webinar on ‘Impact of Covid-19: Opportunities and challenges’ funded by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on November 25 and 26.

An update from the college stated that Prof. Sibnath Deb, director of RGINYD, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, government of India, was the guest of honour.

In the inaugural programme, the college principal Dr. Vizovol Mekro delivered the welcome address, while the research and seminar committee co-ordinator Dr. I Koktiba delivered the keynote address.

On the first day, resource person and CEO of Entrepreneurs Association (EA) Neichute Doulo spoke on ‘Entrepreneurship in Nagaland: challenges and prospects,’ while associate professor of Physics from Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung Dr. Abhijit Borah spoke on ‘Application of IT&C in teaching-learning process’. In the second session, the college assistant professor and director of skill development Dr. Seyiezolie Khoubve spoke on ‘Imparting skills-based knowledge among students, while assistant professor Dr. H Atoholi Sema spoke on ‘Floriculture and its prospects’ and assistant professor Dr. I Koktiba spoke on ‘National youth policy’.

On the second day, the college assistant professor Dr. Medongulie Zatsu spoke on ‘Sustainable development goals,’ while assistant professor Dr. Thejotalu Nienu spoke on ‘Creating awareness through personal hygiene and health care’. In the second session, the director of People’s Channel from Dimapur Rozelle Mero spoke on ‘Entrepreneurship in Nagaland: Opportunities and challenges,’ and assistant professor Dr. Levinu Sakhrie on ‘Good governance and informed citizenship’.

In the last session, senior project associate from YouthNet Entrepreneurship Centre in Kohima, Anini Nyenga, and the manager training and talent management from YouthNet Job Centre in Kohima, Tsepila Zhimomi, presented speeches on ‘Self-employment and other employment opportunities in Nagaland’.

It stated that every session was followed by question hour and discussion. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Vasanthi Rajendran from Centre for Training, Orientation and Capacity Building and Centre for National and International Collaboration, RGNYID, and Shepalu Suyie, vice principal and associate professor of Phek Government College.
