Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): Tsükhenyie wrestling marked the conclusion of the 72nd youth day of Pfutseromi Youth Organisation (PYO)-cum-Tsükhenyie celebration on April 27 at Pfutseromi village in Phek district.
An update from the organisation stated that David Mero, kilo kilonser of NSCN/GPRN, and Mhathung Khuvung, NStCB Pfutsero branch manager, were the guest speaker and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Mero expounded on the importance of sports and healthy lifestyle in order to achieve greater heights in life. He also highlighted employment opportunities through sports.
“We should celebrate failures and learn to achieve greater aspects and never give up, as all will not win but some have to fail,” Mero said.
Meanwhile, Khuvung remarked that Pfutsero is one of the fastest developing towns in Nagaland saying it has tremendous advantages to develop compared to other villages.
He told the villagers not to forget culture and tradition and further encouraged them to preserve and popularise the rich culture which could in turn be a source of employment and create more tourism opportunities.
Report stated that a total of 77 wrestlers participated in the Naga style wrestling. The oath was administered by games and sports secretary Kewetshu Mero. The programme was led by Solomon Ritse and the welcome address was delivered by Neichuzu Mero, secretary VDB Pfutseromi.
