KOHIMA — A total of twenty National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of Pfutsero Government College led by its programme officer, Nüveta Khüsoh, represented Nagaland at the North East NSS Festival 2024 held at Manipur University in Imphal from July 1 to the 5th.
The festival, held on the theme 'Digital youth: Transforming India together,' was organised by the NSS Cell of Manipur University, Canchipur, in collaboration with the regional directorate of NSS, Guwahati, under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
An update from the college stated that Professor N Lokendra Singh, vice chancellor of Manipur University, and Nakul Chandra Deori, youth officer of NSS NER, Guwahati, attended the festival as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Around 300 volunteers from five states participated in the festival.
Speaking at the inaugural session, the chief guest emphasised the demographic digital transformation of India and highlighted how digital technology has penetrated every part of the country, making many processes paperless.
He encouraged the volunteers to upgrade their knowledge about new technologies stating that it crucial to constantly improve oneself in technological, educational, mental and financial aspects. He further urged everyone to learn something new every day.
The regional director of NSS, Guwahati, Jangjilong, in his short speech, encouraged the volunteers to prepare themselves to build the nation. He stressed that the change needed for the nation starts with each individual.
Among others, the festival was marked by literary competitions such as quizzes, extempore speeches, essay writing, slogan creations and spot painting.
Report also stated that the participants visited the Anthropology department, where they gained firsthand exposure to regional cultural artifacts.
The festival culminated with a cultural event featuring captivating performances that celebrated the rich traditions of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Sikkim.
