Pet show held in Diphu

DIPHU — Pet Show Committee of Karbi Anglong, in association with Pet Centre and All Paws and Claws, held the 3rd edition of pet show at Diphu Government Boys Higher Secondary School ground on Sunday.

The pet show was inaugurated by former principal of Diphu Government Girls High School, Amitabh Shome, while Dr. Pradyut Sarma, a renowned veterinarian from Guwahati, Dr. Mrinal Das from Guwahati and Dr. Rupal Kr. Nath from Nagaon were the judges of the show. 

President of the Pet Show Committee, Dr. Lonee Dutta, stated that the purpose of organising the pet show was to create a bonding between animals and pet parents.

“Animal’s love is unconditional and in return, pet owners give the same love back to their animals,” Dr. Dutta said.

Meanwhile, the secretary of Pet Show Committee, Ratan Sing Ronghang, informed that three points were taken into consideration to judge the animals. Firstly, whether the dog or cat is vaccinated, secondly whether the animal is kept clean or not and thirdly how the animal is trained by the owner.

In the large breed category of dogs, the first prize was awarded to ‘Snowy’ (White Retriever breed) owned by Arim Timungpi, while the second prize was awarded to ‘Orca’ (German Shepherd breed) owned by Drishti Rongpipi and the third prize was awarded to ‘Ginger’ (Retriever breed) owned by Klarchari Timung. 

In the small breed category dogs, the first prize was awarded to ‘Puffy’ (Culture Spitz breed) owned by Dengmirso Timungpi, while the second prize was awarded to ‘Agriti’ owned by Abhijet Medhi and third prize to ‘Max’ owned by Dr. Lakhimai Beypi. 

Altogether, 120 dogs and cats of local and exotic breeds were showcased during the event.

In the local/ cross breeds category dogs, the first prize was awarded to ‘Kalu’ owned by Khirud Lahon, while the second prize was awarded to Djangpo owned by Prateeek Sharma and third prize to ‘Tuk-Tuk’ owned by Bandana Das.

In cat category, the first prize was awarded to ‘Chunu’ (Persian cat breed) owned by Arni Phangchopi, while the second prize was awarded to ‘Elsa’ (Himalayan cat breed) owned by Heromi Maslai and third prize to ‘Jiro’ (local breed) owned by Rajdeepa Bora.
