Personnel of JAKLI undergo rock climbing course

Personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) who underwent a 5 day long rock climbing and artificial climbing course under the guidance of the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) at the Manipur Mountaineering Institute (MMI) complex at Lamdan in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, displayed their climbing skill at the artificial climbing wall located at MMTA complex at Minuthong in Imphal on Saturday.
Around 30 JAKLI personnel attended in the day’s practical cum display of climbing skills on the concluding day of their 5 day intensive rock climbing course here.Before coming to Imphal for their practice and displaying the climbing skills, the JAKLI personnel were given hand-in support training at hilly MMI complex Lamdan, about 40 km south of Imphal.
The personnel were very keen to attend in all the training formats and they were also very fast in learning, according to one Y Surchandra, a trainer from MMTA. One of the young JKIL personnel who took part in the climbing course opined that the climbing course was indeed a great one.
Mention may be made here that MMTA has been promoting adventure tourism in the state besides offering various courses on mountaineering, trekking and artificial rock climbing courses from time to time.
