Dimapur, Aug. 2 (EMN): With the objectives to disseminate information on various schemes and services, a joint team of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Sakhi-One Stop Centre, and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), Peren, undertook a community awareness tour to Benreu, New Poilwa, Old Poilwa, and Peren Namdi from July 25 to 28.
During the tour programme, the officials organised series of interaction programmes with the different village elders on various schemes and services provided by government departments.
Highlighting the functioning and details of Sakhi, Akusi Khate, IT staff of Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC), Peren district, informed that Sakhi- OSC is an initiative of the Ministry of Woman and Child Development, Government of India, and the State Resource Centre for Woman (SRCW) where the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) is the nodal agency to implement OSC in the State.
According to him, Sakhi- OSC is intended to support woman affected by violence in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at workplaces. He added that OSC would provide special services to women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse.
Keyizieteing Ndang, District coordinator of PMMVY, Peren, had highlighted on the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)- a scheme designed by the Ministry of Women and Child development to provide conditional maternity benefit which is implemented using the platform of the Anganwadi Centres with the main objective to provide partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives and to encourage pregnant women and lactating mothers to seek an improved health and nutrition behaviour.
Lungngaulie, MSK district coordinator, stated that the government has provided various schemes for women but many do not avail the schemes. She further informed on the various procedure and criteria on Sukanya Samriddhi Account Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mantru Vandana Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram, Family Planning, Tuberculosis, Ayushman Bharat and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram to avail themselves.
MSK is a program designed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) for the holistic development of rural women and to empower the rural women. MSK is the foothold of BBBP (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao).
