Dimapur, Nov. 3 (EMN): Peren district tobacco control cell has organised a one-day seminar on Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) at New Police Reserve, Peren, on October 29 with the participation of officers in-charge of various outstations and other police personnel from the district.
A press release from the chief medical officer (CMO), Peren, stated that Dr. Sabino Kuotsu had highlighted on various issues related to tobacco and the laws under COTPA.
Speaking on the occasion, superintendant of police (SP), Rukuwelo Mero, has termed the police personnel as law enforcers and added that laws could be properly implemented and effectively only if the law enforcers are morally disciplined.
Assistant superintendent of police, Lima Akum T Jamir, also shared the same view and hoped to see change in the society through the law enforcers. Sub-divisional police officer, Vikato Thonger, supported the team with his presence.
The police personnel also pledged to guard the act and give their support to the fight against tobacco.
