Peren observes World Population Stabilization Fortnight

Dimapur, July 28 (EMN): A programme on World Population Stabilization Fortnight activity culminated on July 24 in Peren district. A press release issued by the District Media Officer, CMO Peren, Pezanguno Celine Secü informed that during the fortnight, family planning camps were conducted in all the health units providing free family planning services. It also stated wide publicity was made through public announcement systems and also through the church platforms in the district headquarters as well as in the block level. Senior medical officer, Dr. Yetovi (obs. and gynae.) and his team from CHC Jalukie conducted the laparoscopic ligation cases where a total of twenty-one laparoscopic and 16 IUCD were done. The medical officers and nurses, in their respective health units, conducted counselling and also distributed IEC materials, printed in local dialect, to those who availed the services at the programme. The release also informed that the ASHA's 'conducted inter-personal communication in the villages for intensive awareness at the grass root level' and also conducted 'focus group discussion by the ASHA workers'. The release further informed that  during the camp, condoms, oral pills, emergency pills and female contraceptive injection were provided in the district hospital and the CHC Jalukie'.
