Peren, Meluri admin ban heavy vehicles

Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): The electoral establishments of Peren district and Meluri in Phek district have banned movement of heavy vehicles during the elections.

According to IPR, the district electoral officer of Peren, Sarita Yadav, banned ‘plying’ of heavy vehicles on roads within Peren district from April 3 to the 13th.

Yadav, also the district’s deputy commissioner, convened a meeting with members of the Timbers’ Union of Peren on March 29 in view of the parliamentary elections, to the 17th Lok Sabha that is scheduled to be conducted on April 11.

In order to ensure ‘smooth plying of vehicles on election duty,’ all heavy vehicles carrying logs/fanta/pali post and other heavy vehicle items, shall not be allowed to travel for stated period of days, the IPR stated.

The administration has ordered all in concern to comply with the notice. Failure to do so will invite necessary action, the updates added.

Meluri
Similarly, the additional deputy commissioner for Meluri, Phuleshe K Yepthomi has issued an order no heavy vehicle, especially log-laden trucks, except for those carrying essential commodities, shall be allowed to travel while the election process is underway.

‘The order will be effective 9th -11th April 2019. Any violators/non-compliance to the said order will invite strict action as per provision of the law,’ the IPR added.
