Students of Peren Government College are seen during the workshop on essentials of value addition in soap-making on October 15.


DIMAPUR — The Education department of Peren Government College (PGC) on October 15 organised a one-day workshop on essentials of value addition in soap-making at the college’s conference hall.


An update from the college stated that the programme began with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Changneu Ndang, HOD, who highlighted the importance of skill-based learning in enhancing employability and self-reliance.


The first session was led by Iheirangle, faculty at SBI-RSETI, Peren, who spoke on ‘Introduction to value addition in soap-making and importance of skills in entrepreneurship.’ She emphasised the growing market for customised handmade products and the scope it has in the market. She also highlighted on essential values that could be added to make soap.


The second session was conducted by Loyivani Humtsoe, practical trainer, who gave a step-by-step demonstration on soap-making. She guided the participants through the process of mixing ingredients, adding natural colours and fragrances and shaping soaps.

It stated that participants engaged in hands-on practice, exploring value addition techniques and packaging methods to enhance product appeal.


An interactive session was held towards the end, wherein the participants clarified their doubts and shared their ideas on entrepreneurship and creative product design.


The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Yanchopeni, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, organising team and all participants for their active involvement and cooperation in making the programme a success.


It mentioned that the event was both informative and practical, equipping students with valuable knowledge and skills that could be applied in real-life entrepreneurial ventures.
