DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, convened a Census awareness meeting with apex tribal hohos and civil society organisations under Peren district on June 10 at the DC’s conference hall, in connection with the preparation for the upcoming Census Operation, 2027.
Representatives from various organisations attended the meeting, including the Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation, Kuki Inpi Nagaland, Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation, Zeliangrong Youth Organisation, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Zeliang Women Organisation, Zeliang Youth Organisation, Zeliang Students' Union, Kuki Nute Kiloikhom, and Kuki Students' Organisation, a DIPR report stated.
Chairing the meeting, the DC highlighted the significance of the census operation and emphasised the need for accurate and authentic data collection. He informed that there are 46 supervisors and 250 enumerators under Peren district along with reserve personnel to conduct the census exercise.
Meru urged all citizens to ensure that no citizen is left out during the enumeration process and called upon tribal leaders and civil society organisations to play an active role in supporting census officials.

He stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and census functionaries to ensure the successful implementation of the census.
SDO (Civil) Peren, SentilongOzukum, delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on Census 2027.
He provided an overview of the history and evolution of census operations in India and informed the participants that the forthcoming census will be conducted digitally for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the country's census administration.
He also explained the Self-Enumeration Portal under the House Listing Operation (HLO) will remain active from June 16t to the 30th.
Through this portal, citizens can register and complete self-enumeration by responding to a set of prescribed questionnaires.
The meeting witnessed extensive discussions and interaction during which various concerns and suggestions were deliberated upon.
The DC further appealed the tribal hohos and civil society organisations to intensify public awareness efforts and encourage people to extend full cooperation to census personnel.
