Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): The Peren district task force and Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Covid-19 held a meeting to discuss matters related to the ongoing pandemic in the district, at DC Chamber, district headquarters Peren, on August 24.

An update from the DIPR informed that the meeting started with the introduction of new members by DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, who is also the chairman of Peren DTF.

The house discussed on the issue of restriction on inter-district movement and its implications. ‘After much deliberation, the house decided to lift total restrictions in the district with effect from August 27. However, regulation of public movements will continue as per the standing government orders and travel permit systems will continue to prevent uncontrolled public movements in the district till further notification,’ the update informed.

Dr. Hedungkiebe, DSO (Med), presented Covid-19 status in the district and informed that two persons were tested positive for the virus from contact tracing at Athibung but the contacts of the two persons are negative. He also proposed a mass awareness and sanitisation campaign in the district to prevent full-blown Covid-19 community spread, it was informed.

“To ensure safety practices by active community participation, the house entrusted Medical department to work out a project for the campaign so as to instil the community minds to take care of themselves through students, business organisations or church leaders. The DTF also directed the sub-divisional task force to continue efforts to spread awareness in their respective areas,” the press release stated.

Survey report of proposal site for sustainable Covid hospital and Covid Care Centre which was conducted by the Medical department and NZPO members on August 20, as directed by the technical team, was presented by Dy. CMO, Dr. Lanuakum, according to the press release. The report was supplemented by Dr. Hatling, CMO Peren and Kevipelie NZPO president.

“As the proposed site is found to be the most suitable options for sustainable management of Covid-19 cases in the district, the house unanimously approved the survey report and agreed to forward it to higher authority,” it informed.

ADC Jalukie, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, also apprised the house about the financial status and its burdens especially in managing transportation, private hotels and quarantine centres, the update said.

“The issue of vehicle problems and sanitizing team to be manned by non medical personnel due to shortage of manpower raised by the medical Department were kept for further course of actions,” it added.

The DC also informed the house that upcoming DTF meeting will be called on need basis.
