TR Zeliang chairs the Peren DPDB meeting at the DC office in Peren on October 18.

DIMAPUR — The monthly Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for October was held on Wednesday at the DC conference hall in Peren, presided over by TR Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister and chairman of Peren DPDB.

According to a DIPR report, the board examined several critical agenda items, including the proposal to upgrade the Government High School in Jalukie B to a government higher secondary school.

The board assessed the need to keep the examination centre (10) in Tening, and the proposal to establish a fire and emergency services sub-station in Tening was reviewed and discussed. After thorough discussion, the board resolved to refer them to the appropriate higher authorities for further consideration.

The representatives from the Education department delivered a PowerPoint presentation outlining the district’s School Education activities. They also informed the board of their concerns and grievances.

Vineet Kumar, deputy commissioner and vice chairman of the DPDB, updated attendees on the allocation of plots to individuals at the new district headquarters during the meeting. This was done to expedite development and avoid any potential licence cancellations.

On the occasion, Zeliang conveyed the news of the passing of I Daniel Zeliang, president of the Zeliangrong People Organisation, and as a mark of respect, the board observed a minute of silence in his memory.
