Peren District Inter-Departmental Tournament concludes in Jalukie
Hiazu Meru with officials and winners of the 11th Peren District Inter-Departmental Tournament at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Jalukie town, on November 14.


DIMAPUR — The closing programme of the 11th Peren District Inter-Departmental Tournament was held on November 14 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Jalukie town, with Divisional Forest Officer Peren, Chisayi, attending as the guest of honour.


Addressing the gathering, Chisayi stated that he was deeply impressed by the display of skill, fitness and sportsmanship demonstrated throughout the three-day event.


According to an update, he noted that sports require teamwork, discipline, perseverance, endurance and mutual respect, and commended all participants for embodying these qualities on the field.


He further highlighted the importance of carrying these values into professional life, adding that such events strengthen bonds among departments and remind everyone of their shared commitment to serve the people to the best of their abilities.


Reflecting on the tournament, he observed that officials from all ranks actively participated, showcasing unity and cooperation. He stated that just as every member contributes to a team’s success in sports, the smooth functioning of office work also depends on contributions from all levels.


He stated that the successful and memorable conduct of the tournament was a result of collective effort and encouraged continued collaboration and teamwork both within and between departments.

Inter-departmental tournament concludes in Phek


In table tennis (women’s singles), Dr. Rajkumari Mandakini Devi (College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry) secured the first position, while Reluibamle (Rural Development) finished as runner-up. In table tennis (men’s singles), Dr. Hawaibam Birla Singh (College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry) emerged as the winner, with Samlamyising (Education) as the runner-up.


In arm wrestling (women), Shezolu (District Executive Force) claimed the top position, followed by Lily Khing (Education). In arm wrestling (men), Keyisamrangbe (District Education Superintendent Office) took first place, and Rokohol (Fire and Emergency Services) secured second place.


In carrom (women’s doubles), Lhingneilhai Hangsing and Achilo N Ezung (Medical) emerged as champions, while Tingdau and Berila (Agriculture) finished as runners-up. In carrom (men’s doubles), Kaibakam Pamai and Namga (Education) won the title, with Nzeubeu and Hangpoi (Administration) taking second place.


In the women’s penalty shoot-out event, the Education Department emerged as the winner, while the District Executive Force secured the runner-up position. In men’s futsal, Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry clinched the title, with the District Executive Force finishing as runner-up.


In badminton (women’s singles), Kisamzaile (Mission Shakti) took first place, and Keyicetpeule (Education) came in second. In badminton (women’s doubles), Pauramgwangle and Pelunwi R. Newmai (Administration) won the event, while Asuni and Peheilusile Haisobe (Mission Shakti) were runners-up.


In badminton (men’s singles), Kidungyi (District Executive Force) secured the top position, followed by Kekungdibo Wanchang (Social Welfare). In badminton (men’s doubles), Isapsibe Siang and Dinchap Rentta (Education) emerged victorious, with Chungkhokai Singson and Kamjagin Singson (Education) taking second place.


In mixed doubles, Kekungdibo Wanchang and Abeno (Social Welfare) were declared winners, while Dinchap Rentta and Lily Khing (Education) finished as runners-up.


The prizes were given away by Deputy Commissioner of Peren Hiazu Meru, Divisional Forest Officer of Peren Chisayi, and Superintendent of Police, Peren, Igwangheing Hemang.


A total of 41 departments participated in this year’s edition. The tournament saw strong participation with 75 teams in badminton (all categories), 59 teams in carrom, 30 teams in table tennis, 26 participants in arm wrestling, 36 teams in men’s futsal, and 14 participants in women’s penalty shoot-out.
