Peren confirms four Covid cases during random test

Dimapur, May 19 (EMN): Peren district detected four Covid-19 cases out of the total 173 samples that were collected, while the remaining 169 were tested negative.

The Peren district medical team led by Dr. Imnuk, epidemiologist IDSP Peren, has been carrying out random sampling tests in order to ascertain the prevalence of Covid-19 in the district, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Peren, stated. The cumulative results of the sample collected were from the category of taxi drivers, auto drivers, shopkeepers, daily market dwellers, petrol pump staff, BSNL staff, and garage workers. The sample testing was carried out on April 19, 23, 30, May 5, 13, and 14 in Jalukie town. The same team also conducted testing on April 24 and May 3 in Peren town.

Meanwhile, it also informed that Covid vaccination drive for 18-44 years 1st phase for Peren district started on May 17. It added that till May 18, a total of 410 beneficiaries have been vaccinated.

The vaccination was conducted only at block heads namely at District Hospital Peren, CHC Jalukie, Tening CHC and PHC Athibung.
