As the lot of Nagas are made eavesdropping from all corner and sides by various political proposers, each with their own designs of agenda they think best suit the need of realistic political mileage for restoring the urgent deficiencies in economic and infrastructural aspect… while the presentations appear to be well furnished and effectively tangible for the masses to comprehend, the proposers themselves seems to be ignorant or deviating from the social norms and etiquette that follows in a democratic state, which are not as much as to faintly perambulate as it is to adhere by. We have witnessed enough loss of lives of our nationalistic brethrens since the day our true nationalist pioneer AZ Phizo and his comrades initiated the call of revolution against the Indian government. And as the issue of sovereignty further got dragged towards the 80’s, there emerged the NSCN; and henceforth we have witnessed many more rifts among the Naga nationalists—who all claim to uphold the veracity of their struggles for the legit cause of the Nagas.
It would be culpable and the statement itself mounting to self-collapsing if we are to leverage the sacrifices our predecessors laid for the nationalistic cause upon a singular party—who would well enunciate the losses incurred as solely theirs alone. Every group, in subsequent times, had played equal role and shed equal bloods of their fellow comrades, while conflicting with Indians or during crucial disputes among themselves relating to differences in ideologies and policies. A lot more has to be divulged upon the course of events and the barriers our nationalist groups had to overcome over the course of years till date.
With the ongoing drive of the various political parties for the upcoming election, an assurance has to be made solid of their loyalty with the manifestos by introducing more reforms for a liable polls keeping full aware of the contingency, which till date has not bore fruitful. Until the governing structures are made transparent for a feasible accountable governance, it could not be expected of any party to deliver the people with the long due development.
The Nagas of Nagaland anxiously anticipates the participation of the NNPGs (WC) and NSCN (K) to deliberate on the framework agreement of the NSCN (IM) with India, for a conclusive broad based solution. The centre being the caretaker, should also account itself to play a bigger role than feasibly taking sides, as it is for the larger interest of the long protracted Naga issue.
Regarding the modus operandi of the NSCN in their interim government, highlighted by KK Sema, as they propose presently, the rigid ramification in its structure appears to be centered around due-based—for its members and supporters. If this is to be implemented then it leaves room for assessment; if the Naga people would also be made to actively hold the higher offices or if it is reserved for the present members. Also a befitting structure in a democratic government necessitates a healthy public relation platform to address and remain accountable to the people.
