Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): Peraciezie Colony in Kohima has strongly condemned the ‘inhumane’ treatment meted to a minor girl and demanded that the couple be booked under relevant sections of the law for child abuse, attempted murder and crime against humanity.

While demanding that the law should take its course of action and justice be delivered without interference from any angle, the colony stated the perpetrators should not be released under any circumstances. The colony also expressed dismay to note that the acts were committed by an IRB jawan, who is under oath to protect the citizens.

“Such a person should not be entrusted to enforce the law and the accused should be discharged from his service for the safety of the general public,” the colony president Kevisetso Miachieo and the secretary Khriesakeduo Kelio stated in a joint statement.

Meanwhile, it informed that the couple has been ostracised from Peraciezie colony with immediate effect and decided to treat them in the same way as they have treated the minor child if they are ever seen in the colony again. It added that such people do not deserve a place in society and their acts deserved condemnation from all quarters.

The colony regretted that the minor child had to undergo such treatment under its jurisdiction and prayed for the speedy recovery. The colony also lauded an alert neighbour without whose intervention the child could have succumbed.

Further, the colony cautioned house owners to properly verify the credentials of the tenants and be vigilant, failing which it warned that the house owners would also be held equally responsible for crimes and anti-social activities perpetrated by tenants. The colony has also reiterated the prohibition on liquor trade under Peraciezie colony jurisdiction.
